Marco Martin and the Wine of the Aosta Valley.

The Lo Triolet winery is located in Introd and produces one of the best wines in the Aosta Valley. The winery is led by Marco Martin and reflects the enormous passion for vineyard cultivation typical of the vignerons Valle d’Aosta.

The winery was founded in 1988 with the intention of replanting the old family vineyards by planting an early variety that would ensure optimal ripening even at the 800-900 meters altitude of the commune of Introd.

Production has increased from the initial 1,000 bottles to the current 50,000, thanks to the cultivation of vineyards located in several municipalities in the Aosta Valley.

Right from the start, the winery has enjoyed great success and Lo Triolet has grown considerably over the years, developing its interest in vineyard cultivation .

To date, the company of Marco Martin offers a wide range of labels including white wines, red wines and dessert wines.

Winemaking: from grape to bottle

Winemaking consists of the process of biochemical transformation of grapes into wine and occupies a time frame from the harvest in September to the subsequent transformation of must into wine.

The winery is where the “magic” takes place, that is, where the grapes are turned into wine.

The process goes like this: first, careful crushing of the freshly harvested grapes takes place, then the grapes are pressed following a maceration that lasts around 10 days .

Next steps include racking and fermentation in stainless steel for 12-14 days at 25-28°.

Finally, theaging of the wine can be around 8-9 months: for Fumin AOC, it takes place 60% in French oak barriques and tonneaux and the remaining 40% in steel barrels. In other cases, such as for Pinot Gris and Petite Arvine, it takes place totally in steel.

The work of Marco Martin is to best preserve the quality of the grapes he has been chasing for the entire season, while respecting the characteristics of the product.Technology undoubtedly helps him, but it is his ideas, experiences and sensibilities that define the character of each of the winery’s wines Lo Triolet.
