Roisan The History
Roisan's origins date back to Roman times, when it was crossed by an alternative road to the Great St. Bernard Pass.
Agriculture and animal husbandry played a key role in the local economy due to the good exposure of the land.
In the 12th century the municipal territory was divided into two fiefdoms: one part under the seigniory of the Rhins, attributed to the bishop of Aosta, and the other part was included in the vast area controlled by the lords of Quart, among the most important and influential noble families of Valle d'Aosta.
During the 20-year fascist period, the municipality was merged with that of Aosta.
