Lillianes Chestnut Museum
Immerse yourself in History
Inside the building of the “Il Riccio” cooperative stands a small treasure: the Chestnut Museum.
Through ancient tools and processing objects, the museum transports us back in time, revealing the importance of this fruit as a livelihood for families in the lower Lys Valley, also known as “the bread of the poor.”
The reconstruction of a “gra,” a place where chestnuts were dried in the past, offers an authentic immersion in processing techniques.
In addition, communal spaces such as the kitchen and bedroom add a touch of authenticity.
In October, it is possible to follow the current stages of harvesting and processing, thanks to modern machines that allow for extensive marketing.
This museum is a window to the past, a fascinating journey into the rural culture and tradition of this community.
