Starting Point and First Steps Your adventure begins from the parking lot in front of the Tourist Office, where you take the Monterosa Weg street. Shortly after, you will reach the Obre Platz, a striking location that offers a breathtaking view of the parish church of San Giovanni and the Piazza Umberto I. Toward the Gover Pond Continuing on Monterosa Weg street and turning onto the first street on the left, you reach the romantic Gover Pond. This enchanting corner is surrounded by fir trees and offers a spectacular view of Monte Rosa. The Queen’s Trail and Savoie Castle Having crossed the pond, the route continues with a short climb to Trail 15, known as the Queen’s Trail. This route leads directly to Castel Savoia, the summer residence of Queen Margaret of Savoy. Passing a refreshing waterfall, you reach the parking lot at the entrance to the castle grounds, where it is worth stopping to visit this magnificent historic building. Return to the Center After the visit to the castle, the route continues on a paved road and, past a half bend, takes a path that descends below the road, reaching a fork where you take a left. This section leads to the Greschmatto chapel, where you turn right until you reach another fork. Across the Lys Stream and Back to Starting Point Following the straight road, cross the bridge over the Lys Stream and continue to the Lombardi Trail. This scenic route offers great views of typical Gressoney architecture and leads up to Villa Margherita and the “Beck-Peccoz” Alpenfaunamuseum. The return to the tourist office closes the circle of this fascinating itinerary that combines history, culture and nature. It is ideal for a day of discovery and relaxation, surrounded by the breathtaking panorama of the Aosta Valley.
