A church that hides early Christian remains

The Neoclassical Church: A Historical and Architectural Transformation Discover the fascinating history of the Neoclassical church, which has undergone significant transformations from the Middle Ages to the present day, becoming a symbol of architectural and religious evolution.
Originally an integral part of the castle under the aegis of Renato di Challant, the church was moved in 1736 following the directives of a pastoral visitation in 1528.
This move marked the beginning of a new era for the building, which is now distinguished by its imposing neoclassical facade and richly decorated interior.
A Journey Through the Centuries Medieval Origins and Transformations In the Middle Ages, the original church was leaning directly against the castle façade, integrated into the daily life of the fortress.
However, during a pastoral visit in 1528, the bishop and Renato di Challant decided to move the church to a new location.
This decision aimed to better meet the needs of the community and to provide a more adequate and independent worship space.
Despite the transfer order, construction work on the new church did not begin until two centuries later, in 1736.
