Continuing on, one encounters frescoes that depict with great realism the life of the village, showing scenes of markets, workshops and trades of the time.   Inside the castle, on the ground floor, are the dining room, kitchen and baronial hall, where an imposing stone fireplace with the Challant coat of arms and frescoes depicting landscapes, hunting scenes and the famous “Judgement of Paris” take us back in time.   The second floor of the castle reveals the chapel, with finely decorated ogive vaults, precious frescoes on the walls and a magnificent Gothic altar in carved and gilded wood.
Not far away, the Countess’ chamber surprises us with its ornate oratory decorated with frescoes.   The second floor houses the rooms “of the King of France,” with a ceiling decorated with lilies and a shield of the French Valois dynasty on the fireplace, and the “Knights of St. Maurice,” with a coffered ceiling painted with the order’s cross.
