Pontboset is a charming, tiny village of 175 inhabitants located at 780 meters above sea level on the right side of the Champorcher Valley.
Pontboset The History
It preserves many period buildings, including two stone bridges crossing the Ayasse stream and the parish church dating from the Middle Ages, when the village was a dependency of the barons of Champorcher.

What to see in Pontboset
Although very small, Pontboset and its villages offer a variety of activities for visitors including the Retempio shrine, dating from 1835, from which there is a spectacular view as far as Mount Rosa and the Matterhorn.
A gilded statue of the Madonna and two polychrome statues of saints are preserved inside.
For a trip back in time, catapult yourself to Barmelle, a village accessible by a mule track characterized by stone houses and a rural atmosphere.
For hikers, the Six Bridges and Ravine Trail passes through chestnut forests and encounters fresh picturesque streams, with swift water stretches and pools full of fish fauna.
