Unité des Communes Grand-Combin Saint-Oyen
amidst beautiful hikes, winter activities and delicious local products
Located at the base of the Comba di Bosses in the valley of the Great St. Bernard, Saint-Oyen is a charming village at an altitude of 1373 meters, surrounded by houses in the Aosta Valley style.
It is characterized by a variety of environments, exposures, and elevations: vast sun-exposed meadows of the adret and intense shaded forests of the envers.
Saint-Oyen The History
Its location along the road up to the Great St. Bernard Pass has shaped its history, having been a crucial trade route and still an important stop for pilgrims along the Via Francigena, which connects the British Isles to Rome and Jerusalem.

What to do in Saint Oyen?
For a cultural-historical visit, make a stop at the parish church of Saint-Oyen (St. Eugendo), which dates back to the 12th century, and the quaint Château Verdun, which has been converted into a lodging facility.
Nature and sports lovers will not be bored here either.
Saint Oyen, in fact, offers numerous hiking trails in summer, such as Plan Puitz, and expanses of snow in winter for cross-country and alpine skiing. Photos by Daniela Abbate
