The History Grosjean Vins

History of Grosjean Winery: Valdostan Wine Tradition.

The first documented traces of the Grosjean family in the Aosta Valley date back to the 1600s, when the Duke of Savoy invited some families from Savoy and Burgundy to repopulate the region after the plague of 1630.
The ancestors of the Grosjean family settled between Chambave and Fénis, reclaiming abandoned land to cultivate vines and produce wine for local consumption.
In the 1960s, after a period of decline, the family resumed the winemaking tradition thanks to Dauphin Grosjean, who bottled his cherry wine in 1968, achieving success at the "II Exposition des Vins du Val d'Aoste."
From that time on, the family focused more and more on viticulture, supported by Dauphin's five children, who contributed to the company's growth.
In the 1980s and 1990s, the Grosjean Winery specialized in the production of high-quality wines, rediscovering native varieties such as Fumin, Petit Rouge, and Cornalin.
During this period, the family recovered and enhanced the historic Rovettaz Vineyard.
In 2000, the winery was expanded to accommodate an increasing number of vintages and visitors, also expanding into international markets, such as the United States and Japan.
In 2011, Grosjean Winery distinguished itself as the first in the Aosta Valley to convert to organic farming.
In 2018, management of the winery passed to the third generation, ensuring the continuity of the family tradition.
