Becca d'Aver e Cima Longhede

Torgnon Becca d’Aver and Cima Longhede

A journey through nature

This route not only provides breathtaking mountain scenery, but also offers an immersion in nature and local history.
Approach and Parking The adventure begins in Torgnon, from where you climb to the St. Pantaleone pass.
Descending a few hairpin bends, you reach a junction where you follow the sign for the Champlong picnic area.
Past the pond, you will find an opening where you can park, before the no-entry sign.
This spot serves as an excellent starting point for the hike.
Ascent Route After leaving the car, you will immediately notice the path unraveling toward the two mountain peaks.
You take the cross-country road to Bornes col and proceed through the forest, following the signs until you reach a marked trail coming from Grand Villa.
The trail becomes steep and leads to a historic clearing, site of an old charcoal kiln, where you can take a short break while admiring the view across the valley.
The trail continues to climb until it crosses the line of larch trees, giving an increasingly wide and spectacular view of the Central Valley and Upper Valtournanche.
The Final Tract and the Peak After crossing the larch tree line, the trail heads north to a knoll, from which there is a remarkable view.
It then continues toward the central valley to a hut, behind which is a small chapel dedicated to Our Lady and a cross.
A short climb behind the little chapel quickly leads to the top of Becca d’Aver at 2464 m, from which there are 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains.
Descent For the descent, retrace your steps along the shoulder that connects the two peaks, and you can choose two alternative paths: a less-traveled one that requires attention and another, wider and well-marked one that passes between avalanche guards and leads back to the hut.
Returning to the initial junction, instead of following the ascent path, take the direction towards Bornes col.
This trail is less steep and shaded by larch and fir trees, offering a pleasant and less strenuous return to the Champlong area.
Tips for Hikers Equipment: Bring sturdy hiking shoes, water, snacks and clothing suitable for variable weather conditions.
Safety: Be careful on steep sections and in less-traveled spots.
Photography: Don’t forget your camera to capture the incredible views and unforgettable moments of this hike.
Becca d’Aver is an ideal destination for nature lovers and hikers, offering a day full of exploration, views and contact with the wilderness of the Aosta Valley.
