Rhemes-Notre-dame Benevolo Refuge
Benevolo Refuge: Oasis of Peace among the Mountains
It was conceived as a shelter for mountaineers and equipped with small rooms and limited common areas, a classic of historic shelters.
Since 2013, various renovations have been made to equip the refuge with toilets and shower room.
The hike to the Refuge is among the classic ones in the Rhemes Valley, suitable for everyone and without any difficulty.
You leave your car in the parking lot of Thumel, the last hamlet of Rhêmes-Notre-Dame.
You then follow the last stretch of asphalt road and then arrive at a hairpin bend on a farm road, where you can decide how to ascend to the Refuge: following trail No. 13 on the left or the farm road on the right.
We recommend the trail if you are climbing on foot, scenic and faster, while by bike the poderale road offers space and comfort.
During the ascent you are immersed in nature, among meadows and streams.
The Granta Parey (3,387m) will appear in the background and accompany us to the Refuge.
Don’t miss the large waterfall on the right before the last ascent to the Refuge.
