Gressan Côte de Gargantua Nature Reserve
There, where a giant sleeps!
The Côte de Gargantua Nature Reserve is characterized by an elongated spur of glacial origin, called “côte,” which according to one legend is the little finger of the giant Gargantua, a character invented by Rabelais and buried under a layer of debris.
This reserve offers a typical steppe environment, with dry grassy-ruparian slopes that are very exposed to the sun.
VISIT the Côte de Gargantua Nature Reserve The reserve can be visited throughout the year due to its excellent exposure, but spring and fall are the recommended seasons to enjoy the mild climate and wonderful colors.
Different access routes start from different points, but we recommend leaving your car in the areas of the Gressan Town Hall, given the limited number of parking spaces in the small parking lots in the hamlets.
HOW TO GET TO THE Côte de Gargantua Nature Reserve By car from Aosta, the Côte de Gargantua is clearly visible along the Envers road, a link road between the valley floor municipalities on the right bank of the Dora Baltea River.
From Pont-Suaz, at the traffic circle, take regional road 20 in the direction of “Gressan – Jovençan – Cogne.”
