Ayas Grand Tournalin Refuge
A Sustainable Shelter at the Feet of Heaven.
In the heart of the Aosta Valley Alps in the Ayas area, at an altitude of 2600 meters in the grassy basin of the upper Alpe Tournalin, stands the Grand Tournalin Refuge.
This structure, characterized by a design that blends copper and stone, is a virtuous example of mountain hospitality, with a strong commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment.
A Refuge with History and Tradition Hospitality and Comfort at High Altitude Built in 1994 by the Becquet Family, the Grand Tournalin Refuge offers 45 beds distributed in cozy, wood-furnished rooms capable of accommodating hikers of all levels.
From 4- to 8-bed rooms, each space is designed to provide maximum comfort, allowing guests to fully enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the surrounding mountains.
Towards a Cleaner Mountain Innovation and Sustainability In recent years, the Grand Tournalin Refuge has embarked on an ecological journey, implementing sustainable solutions to reduce the environmental impact of mountain hospitality: Photovoltaic Panels: For the production of clean electricity, minimizing the use of fossil fuels.
Wood-fired Thermo-cooking: Used to heat water, this solution combines energy efficiency and use of renewable resources.
Separate Waste Collection: A dedicated area within the shelter allows for environmentally sustainable waste management.
Biodegradable Products: From coffee cups to paper towels in the restrooms, the use of biodegradable materials testifies to the shelter’s commitment to reducing its ecological footprint.
