Champorcher Hemp Ecomuseum

Until the mid-1900s, hemp was grown and processed in Champorcher.
From its spinning and weaving, very durable fabrics were produced.
Still today, in Champorcher, it is possible to admire these fabrics thanks to the “Lou Dzeut” Hemp Weaving Cooperative, which weaves them according to tradition.
Where to find the Hemp Ecomuseum In the hamlet of Chardonney, in Thomas’s house, you can visit the Hemp Ecomuseum.
In addition to a fully functioning original larch loom, one can admire a warper, which was used to prepare threads for weaving, and kitchen and bedroom furnishings that could be found in homes of the time.
All this allows the visitor to relive some of the atmosphere in which local families lived, working and weaving hemp.
