Challand Saint-Victor Isollaz Waterfall

Isollaz Waterfall

The Isollaz waterfall is a striking 50-meter waterfall, counted among the most beautiful in the entire Aosta Valley.

It has an impressive effect with its overwhelming roar and possesses a very distinctive sound because of the air displacement caused by the speed of falling water.

Where Isollaz Waterfall is located.

Isollaz waterfall is located in the hamlet of Isollaz, in Challand-Saint-Victor, in the lower Ayas Valley.

It comes from the Evançon stream that originates from the Verra and Courtaud rivers, fed by the glaciers of the Monte Rosa and flows down into the valley between the narrow, high rock walls.

How to get to Isollaz Waterfall

There is a short but winding 20-minute route that will surprise you with the overwhelming beauty of the powerful waterfall and the surrounding landscape.
It must be said, however, that it is not suitable for everyone.

Coming from Verrès by car, at the penultimate hairpin bend downstream from Targnod turn right along the municipal road that leads to the hamlet of Isollaz, after which the waterfall is named.Just before entering the village, there is a free parking lot on the right that allows visitors to leave their cars and continue on foot.A sign indicates the length of the walk (20 minutes) and the marker to follow to the waterfall (number 3).

The trail starts downhill and descends to the creek.
The path is steep and mostly formed by high steps, stones and tree roots coming out of the ground.

It is not suitable for seniors and strollers, as the trail can be slippery and quite challenging.
Once you get to the waterfall, if you don’t want to get wet from the high clouds of splashing water, we recommend bringing a k-way or raincoat.

The return trip will be all uphill, but the trail has benches where you can take a break now and then, and in about half an hour you will have reached the top.
