Blonay Castle is so named because in the mid-17th century, owner Prospero d'Avise bequeathed the building to his grandsons Claudius and Joshua of Blonay.
Maison Blonay, or Château Blonay, appears as a small architectural complex flanked by a tall and mighty defensive tower with thick walls and swallowtail battlements.
This castle was built long before Avise Castle: around the middle of the 12th century and at the time it served as a residence.
Instead, the sturdy side tower was used for a time as a prison.
In fact, the tower was named the "Tour des Prisons," and the Blonays locked up in it all those who committed wrongdoing.
Not everyone knows that, in Avise, there is a third castle: the Castle of Cré.
This fortress is really very little known, as the architecture of this ancient manor has not been preserved to the point where it is interesting from a tourist point of view.
