Morgex Marais Nature Reserve

The Marais Nature Reserve, located between the municipalities of La Salle and Morgex at an altitude of 890 meters above sea level, is a precious oasis of nature and biodiversity.
Characterized by a short stretch of the Dora Baltea River and its alluvial plain, this reserve is a refuge for fauna and flora species that love water-rich environments, which are often rare or even absent elsewhere in the region.
During the migratory seasons of spring and fall, the Reserve transforms into a birdwatcher’s paradise with migratory birdlife in transit.
The edges of the weir, thick with reeds, become a place of shelter and nesting for birds, amphibians and insects, while a footbridge reveals the beauty of the hygrophilous white alder forest, now rare in the region.
