Issogne Marble path (green)
Accessible All Seasons
It winds through ancient marble quarries and natural landscapes of outstanding beauty. This route begins at the picturesque Saint-Solutor church in Fleuran and extends to the Mont-Blanc mountain pasture, located 973 meters above sea level. History and Culture Along the Trail
The Marble Trail takes its name from the historic marble quarries that characterized the area between Fleuran, Favad and Mure during the 20th century. While some of these quarries are still operational, others are silent reminders of a bygone industrial era. As you walk along the trail, you can see tools of the time, such as a crawler shovel and a compressor, that tell the rich mining history of the region. Nature and Biodiversity
The trail is not only a journey through human history, but also an immersion in the rich biodiversity of the Aosta Valley. In particular, near Mont-Blanc, it is possible to spot the Short-toed Eagle, a summer migratory bird of prey considered vulnerable, with only about 15 pairs present in the region during the summer period. Points of Interest
One of the architectural gems along the route is the church of Saint-Solutor, which dates back to the first centuries of the year 1000. The church is an exquisite example of ancient religious architecture, with elements that tell stories of faith and times gone by. Above the church, visitors can admire the vineyards cultivated on ancient terraces, evidence of the local agricultural tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation. Another point of interest is the monumental laurel tree at Lo Creston, which is over 120 years old, representing a living symbol of the region’s natural history. A Hike for All Seasons
Although the trail is especially recommended during the winter season for its unique appeal under the snowpack, it is accessible and wonderful to hike in all seasons.
