Lillianes Parish Church of St. Roch
A Historical Goiello
The Parish Church of St. Roch in Lillianes is a jewel of sacred art.
Built on the foundations of a chapel from 1490, the present church was completed in 1723.
The interior, with three naves separated by stone pillars, enchants visitors with its Baroque-style high altar, a 1763 masterpiece of sculpture by J.B. Gilardi and his son Giuseppe.
The gilded wooden side altars, dedicated to St. Joseph, St. Anthony and the Blessed Virgin, add a touch of refinement.
Local historical evidence, such as the bust of Aosta Bishop John Baptist Jans (1764-1847), a native of Lillianes, enriches the church.
