Villeneuve the ancient church of santa maria and the Chatel Argent

This simple itinerary is really suitable for everyone ; a short day hike that will allow you to take a plunge into the past as you pass among the churches and castles of the Middle Ages that characterize the small village of Villeneuve.The route starts from Villeneuve, after the bridge over the Dora Baltea near the junction with the road coming from Aymavilles. Then you have to climb up the stone staircase, after which you take path No. 1A on the right until you reach the remains of the Castle of Châtel-Argent.
At the foot of the castle is the ancient church of Santa Maria Assunta, one of the most interesting religious monuments in all of Valle d’Aosta.
As soon as you pass the ruins, you have to continue on path No. 1, which descends into the village center and ends in the central square.
