Montjovet The Castle of Montjovet

The Castle of Montjovet holds a past steeped in history and secrets in the beautiful Aosta Valley.  The origins of Montjovet CastleDespite the scant traces of its original appearance and the date of its construction still shrouded in mystery, the castle was acquired by the Savoy family towards the end of the 13th century, replacing the family Montjovet.

Interest in this stronghold had arisen from the injustices carried out by Feidinus of Montjovet against the local population and wayfarers.
It then passed into the hands of the Challants, only to return to the Savoy dynasty in 1438, when Amadeus VII installed a garrison there, active until 1661.

From that time, the castle began to decay, left to the fading traces of time.
A mysterious and fascinating place to absolutely visit.
