The Castle of Montjovet The History
The origins of Montjovet Castle
Despite the scant traces of its original appearance and the date of construction still shrouded in mystery, the castle was acquired by the Savoys in the late 13th century, replacing the Montjovet family.
Interest in this stronghold had arisen from the injustices carried out by Feidin of Montjovet against the local population and wayfarers.
It then passed into the hands of the Challants, only to return to the Savoy dynasty in 1438, when Amadeus VII installed a garrison there, active until 1661.
From that time, the castle began to decay, left to the fading traces of time.
A mysterious and fascinating place to absolutely visit.
