Perloz The paths of peonies

In the Aosta Valley there are some areas of spontaneous flowering of peonies, including the surroundings of Perloz.

These native wild specimens are protected by the regional law that prohibits collection, as they are part of the special conservation areas of the European “Natura 2000” network.

The flowering of peonies officinalis peonies peaks from late May to mid-June, an ideal time to discover these large, bright red flowers and to organize hikes along seldom-visited trails through larch and beech forests.

We highly recommend the route in Perloz territory, following the mule track from Faye Dessous (1022 m) through the villages of Pessé and Fenêtre to Col Fenêtre.
