Trip to the Place Moulin Dam

The Place Moulin dam, in Bionaz, is counted among the most important in the entire Aosta Valley.
It is one of the largest reservoirs in Europe and plays a key role in hydroelectric power generation in Italy through the Valpelline power plant.
The dam is 155 meters high and the plant was built between 1961 and 1965, with testing taking place in 1969.
Outing to Place Moulin Dam The outing to Place Moulin Dam is a really easy walk that is within everyone’s reach.
It is possible to arrive near the dam by car and leave it in the large public parking lot provided for tourists.
From here, you then have to walk along the entire reservoir, along a level path that runs along the orographic right bank.
The trail is 4.8 kilometers long and leads to the Prarayer hut at the bottom of the lake, on the opposite side of the dam.
Generally this hut is open from March to November and also offers rooms to stay overnight.
