Saint-Nicolas Vens – Punta Oilletta

How to Get to Vens The trip begins with easy road access: from the Aosta-Saint-Pierre highway exit, head towards Sarre to Saint Pierre, proceed to Saint-Nicolas, and shortly after the village, turn left and at the next fork turn right towards Vens.
The small paved road leads up to Col de Joux, where there is a convenient parking area next to a picturesque pond.
The Hike to Joux Pond From the village of Vens, located at 1735 meters, follow trail No. 19, which leads in just 30 minutes to Joux Pond at 1893 meters.
The trail is suitable for everyone, offering a moderate climb and the chance to enjoy the tranquility of the lake surrounded by a serene alpine environment.
Adventure Toward the Madonnina di Vetta Continuing the adventure, Trail No. 29 starts from the pond and runs on a more challenging route with steep sections, reaching the Madonnina di Vetta in about two hours.
This point is extremely scenic and is an excellent destination for a reflective break, admiring the vastness of the surrounding mountains.
The Panoramic Traverse From the summit, it is highly advisable to undertake the traverse along the grassy ridge to Punta Leisse’, then descend to Paletta Pass.
From here, a steep descent leads to Lake Leysser, another hidden gem of the region, to return to Col de Joux via a marked trail and a long dirt road.
This circular route, which takes between 5 and 6 hours, offers a perfect combination of physical challenge and natural beauty.
