Champdepraz veulla- lac gelé
Toward the Lake at the foot of Mont Avic
To reach this incredible destination we must start from the hamlet of Veulla.
We must start precisely near the little church of Veulla near the asphalt road coming from Champdepraz.
From here we take the track marked with the number 5C until we reach the clearing of Magazzino.
Keep walking and you will come across Lac de Serva as your first lake, followed by Alpe Cousse and finally Rifugio Barbustel.
Take a break to enjoy the view of the entire Monte Rosa massif, but not too much because you have to continue from here!
Beyond the refuge, in fact, the trail continues reaching the Pesonet plain.
From here, you change path and take mule track number 6 on the right of the road that, climbing through coniferous forest, leads to the orographic left of the gorge carved by the Du Lac Gelé stream.
After reaching some mines, you soon gain the park ranger’s hut, in whose vicinity, at the foot of Mont Iverta, is the magnificent Lac Gelé.
Savor the fresh mountain air, the cold water of the lake and the view of Mont Avic, which seems ever closer!
The descent takes about 2 h 30: follow the wide paved mule track at first, a narrower path and then begin to descend back down the scree slopes of Mt. Avic, to reach again the clearing of Magazzino
