Charvensod The History
Historical background of Charvensod
The territory of Charvensod has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by finds of flints and pottery.
In Roman times, the commune was part of the Fundus Calvetianus, a vast agricultural estate that belonged to the Calvetii family.
In the Middle Ages, Charvensod was a fief of the lords of Quart, who built the castle of Montfleury there, which can still be seen today.
The commune was then subject to the Savoy lordship and French domination.
In 1861 it became part of the Kingdom of Italy.
