La Magdeleine is the smallest village in all of Valtournenche: it has only 100 inhabitants.
It is a quiet and charming mountain village, far from the tourist hustle and bustle, 42 kilometers away from Aosta.
La Magdeleine is simply nestled in the unspoiled and silent nature that surrounds it all around, at 1650 meters above sea level. The home of this Alpine village is Valtournenche, best known for the imposing Matterhorn Mountain that towers over the entire valley.

At La Magdeleine you still have the chance to admire the rascards, ancient rural wooden constructions typical of the Alps, used in the past mainly for storing hay and grain.
In addition, the many water-powered mills will not go unnoticed in the La Magdeleine locations, nor will the ovens, still in use today to carry on the fascinating Aosta Valley tradition of baking.
During the spring and summer, the woods surrounding this commune open the way for trails of all kinds: from those more suitable for children to the somewhat more challenging ones reserved for experts.
For hiking trips that are especially interesting from a panoramic point of view, we especially recommend the ascent to Mount Zerbion and Mont Tantané, both walks of more than 3 hours.
In winter, on the other hand, this resort turns into a small ski resort for beginners and a popular destination for ski mountaineers as well.
Since 2021, it has also been possible to reach La Magdeleine’s Big Bench via a simple trail suitable for everyone and walkable in both winter and summer.
