Pollein is a commune of 1511 inhabitants situated in a flat location in south-central Aosta Valley.
Passing through coniferous forests, Pollein gradually winds its way toward the majestic peaks of Mount Emilius starting from its heart, namely the village.
Pollein The History
The village of Pollein, known since Roman times, has a medieval history linked to the lords of Quart and the bishops of Aosta.
In particular, during the medieval period, Pollein was influenced by various feudal lords, including the counts of Challant, a powerful noble family that ruled many parts of the Aosta Valley and contributed greatly to the development of the region.
When, over the centuries, the Aosta Valley came under the rule of the French and the Sardinians on several occasions, Pollein was involved in these changes of sovereignty, later becoming a strategic point for the Savoy.
During the 20th century, Pollein, like many other municipalities in the Aosta Valley, saw a modernization of infrastructure and an improvement in the quality of life for its inhabitants.
The region has also developed an economy based primarily on tourism, thanks to its natural beauty and the outdoor activities on offer.

Today, Pollein is a small community nestled in the beauty of the Alps, with a population devoted mainly to agriculture and tourism.
Visitors can enjoy breathtaking scenery, hiking in the mountains or a peaceful walk in the Arboreal Park and Rock Garden at the Grand-Place area where rocks representative of the Aosta Valley mountains can be admired, surrounded by lush vegetation.
The Grand-Place area, moreover, is perfect for nature and sports lovers.
It is an oasis of about 10 hectares, with grassy areas for popular sports, sports fields and jogging trails.
Pollein is also easily accessible from Aosta via an attractive bicycle path along the Dora Baltea.
