the land of ham
Saint-Rhémy is the most important village in the upper Great St. Bernard Valley.

Saint-Rhémy-en-Bosses The History
Its Latin name, Endracinum, takes us back to Roman times, when an important mansio stood here to control the road.
Its history is linked to the Via Francigena, as evidenced by Sigeric of Canterbury's account of the itinerary.
The location was the XLVIII stage of the pilgrim's journey to Rome.
