Valtournenche The History
The village of Valtournenche experienced a particularly important period especially in the 19th century, when the Matterhorn that crowns the valley became a popular destination for mountaineers.
Indeed, this 4478-meter-high mountain attracted the attention especially of the British, who wanted to attempt the climb to the summit.
The first to conquer the tip of the Matterhorn was indeed the English mountaineer Edward Whymper, who in 1865 succeeded in his feat together with his six climbing companions.

This authentic environment houses both the Tourist Office and a museum that aims to show alpine life.
Surely the tall bell tower of the St. Anthony Parish Church from the 1400s will not go unnoticed.
